Why Symbolically Adopt?
Costs Associated with Ambassador Raptors:
- $800 per month to feed 13 raptor ambassadors
- $592 for annual vaccinations
In human care, many raptor species can live well beyond 20 years, with some reaching their 50s! The decision to place a raptor in human care is not taken lightly by our staff. We aim to ensure that these birds not only survive but thrive in our care. This involves providing a specialized diet, annual health examinations, habitat upgrades, and plenty of enrichment activities.
Costs Associated with Rehab Patients:
- $125 as the average cost for surgical supplies
- $460 a completed treatment for an eagle or vulture with high lead levels
- $110 for the monthly food cost for a falcon during its rehabilitation
Our hospital patients may remain in our care for anywhere from a few days to six months, and in rare instances, even longer. The duration of their rehabilitation depends on the severity of their injuries. These birds require medicine, surgery, lead testing, and, of course, plenty of mice! Great Horned Owls are the most frequently encountered species in our hospital. In 2025, we rescued 58 of these magnificent birds. On average, their stay is approximately three weeks, during which they consume around five mice each day. In total, we spent $5,481 on Great Horned Owls alone in 2025!
